Flower Inspiration :: Tropical theme birthday party

July brought us a lot of fun events, seems like everyone had something to celebrate.
One of the cool parties we did was a 50th birthday surprise party held at the family's private home in south Parker. Here are some of the photos:

The above cake was designed by Elegant Bakery. The parrot was amazing!

Each table inside the home had a floral display. Here we had three cube vases filled with lemons and one yellow cymbidium floating on top. Bear grass connected the three vases.

An all lemon yellow arrangement - lemons in the base with yellow sunflowers, yellow orchids, billy balls and coxcomb.

Each dining table was set monochromatic. Tom from The Food Guy brought in the most vibrant table cloths which looked awesome on the back patio. We designed a corresponding arrangement for each table. In the base of the vases we alternated rolled leaves, lemons, oranges and limes. Each arrangement used all one color but lots of various flowers to achieve the look. Here we had set them on one table prior to the setup so that we could show how the arrangements differed.


Most of the party took place on the back deck and surrounding the pool We placed tiki torches filled with dendrobrium orchids and bear grass around the perimeter of the porch.

Hitomi Gilliam

Last Monday I was fortunate enough to take a class with Hitomi Gilliam, one of the most distinguished artisans in the floral industry. Hitomi resides in British Columbia and came to Denver to give a hands-on workshop. I really enjoyed the class as she introduced a new type of design to me - very clean lines, Asian influenced, less-is-more. Plus, a few tips for mechanics.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July weekend... and what a weekend it was. We traveled as far north at Niwot, as far west as Beaver Creek and an altitude of 11,000 feet and as far south as Arrowhead Golf Course. Oh yea, the girls and I covered a good portion of the state this past weekend. :)

My two favorite touches from the events:
The wagon used to pull the flower girl down the aisle. We decorated it with a delicate garland of orchids, berries, snapdragons and ranunculus.


The entry way piece at a private home - three vases of various heights. The tallest with white callas and peach stock. The medium vase holding peach French tulips, salmon gerbers and peach asiatic lilies. The shortest vase with green and white hydrangea and peach calla lilies.


Once again - a HUGE thank-you to the wedding planners we worked with this weekend.

Wedding MBA

Green Gables Country Club

This past weekend, June 21, we worked with Traci on her wedding at Green Gables Country Club in Lakewood. I love this country club, it's like a jewel in middle of the city!
Traci's ceremony took place in front of the private lake. Here are some shots of the ceremony site.



The bases and the corners of the chuppah were decorated with varigated & green pitt, sterling silver roses and blue bird roses, purple larkspur, white snapdragons, purple hydrangea, Picasso and lavendar calla lilies, polo roses, dendrobrium orchids, purple, white and lavender stock.


The aisle was lined with garland and at each chair a cluster of hydrangea was attached with lavender ribbon.

"I recently had the pleasure to work with Alicia on a June 2008 "day-of" wedding where she designed, setup and created a fabulous chuppah, along with all the other wedding pieces.
