Entertaining Colorado Style

On Sept. 20, 2007 I participated in Entertaining Colorado Style's Parade of Tables. I had the fun of designing a fantasy table and came up with the idea of doing everything in shades of green. It is with great pleasure that I share the two out of five awards I received! From the judges I received "Design Excellence" and from the luncheon guests I received "Table I Would Most Like in My Home". Here are some photos of "Going Green"





The other good news from this fun event is the new floral designer that I met, Henry from Newberry Brothers. Henry and I had a great time chatting throughout the event. I'm very happy to announce that he also won two awards! Here's a photo of Henry with his table:

We love limes!

We recently designed flowers for a wedding at The Pines at Genesee where the theme was pink and green & lots of limes. I love working with limes - such a great color contrast to most flowers. The planner for this event was Sapphire Celebrations.
The arch for the ceremony was decorated with dangling magenta dendrobrium orchids.
Galvanized pails were filled with pink stargazers, bells of Ireland, pink roses, pink gerber daisies and cut limes. These lined the aisle of the ceremony and were later moved inside to be centerpieces.
The cake was provided Das Meyer. We decorated it with pink gerbers, green hypericum berries, pink roses, stargazers and lots of petals. Sapphire Celebrations provided the adorable "I do" letters. Next to the cake sits the toss bouquet.
Each napkin was adorned with a cluster of green hypericum berries.
Another centerpiece was an arrangement of pink stargazers, pink gerber daisies, green hypericum, pink roses arranged in a vase with cut limes lining the inside.
The third centerpiece was a fun collection of three cylinder vases clustered together with cut limes in the base and floating candles. Pink rose petals were scattered around the vases.

A baby shower

We had the pleasure of designing flowers for a baby shower at Heritage Eagle Bend this past Saturday. We love working with Tyra, she is in charge of the events at Heritage Eagle Bend. Julie Gambrell from Classic Creations had planned out this adorable shower for a baby boy. Here are some photos:

Lush centerpieces on each guest table were designed with baby blue delphinium, baby blue hydrangea, skyline yellow roses, yellow spray roses, white iris, green tulips, bells of Ireland and white stock. The flowers were arranged in white ceramic square containers with yellow and blue ribbon streamers flowing onto the table.
Each guest received this adorable favor and we placed a sprig of blue delphinium next to them for added color.
The cake was designed by Elegant Bakery from Lakewood, Colorado. Janusz is such a talented artist. We scattered blue delphinium blossoms, yellow spray rose blossoms, salal leaves and yellow petals around the cake.

a contemporary orange wedding

The wedding we worked on today took place at Mount Vernon Country Club in Golden. Jenise had really fun ideas for her wedding, all orange, clean lines and very contemporary. We had a great time designing the arrangements for her wedding. Here are some photos:
We placed vases filled with orange gladiolas supported by orange and clear glass pebbles down the aisle.
The front altar pieces were about 5' tall, the orange gladiolas were submerged inside the vases and then a cluster of more gladiolas sprouted from the top. Quite an impact with bright orange gladiolas against the Colorado blue sky!
The bridesmaids carried hand-tied bouquets of vendela roses, white ranunculus and orange mambo spray roses. The stems had a simple band of brown satin ribbon.
Jenise carried a hand-tied bouquet of orange roses, three different varieties of orange roses were used, orange ranunculus and white stephanotis with pearls.

AIFD Symposium

I'm back from the AIFD symposium that took place in Palm Desert, CA, this past week. We had 2 1/2 days of demonstrations to watch. Some of them really knocked my socks off - ok, I didn't have socks on since it was a balmy 108 degrees in the desert... I took a ton of photos and will post a few of those here. It's amazing how these designers can take to the stage and construct pieces that go to the ceiling - just fabulous! We had the pleasure of seeing Sylvia Weinstock on stage, she's the famous cake designer from NYC. None of her materials showed up at the hotel and she took to the stage w/ just three stems of flowers. She managed to keep everyone laughing and engaged for around 40 minutes until her powerpoint presentation could actually be shown to us! Preston Bailey came to dazzle us with his latest events, one taking place in the South of France. I also enjoyed demonstrations by Life 3 - a design group from Europe. In fact, the European designers really dazzled me this year - so much energy and great ideas!
Next year Symposium will take place in Chicago....

The 7-6-07 - Good Luck Wedding!

On 7-6-07 we worked on a wedding with a good luck theme of lucky bamboo and the number 7. The ceremony took place at a church on University Avenue in Denver, reception at Arrowhead Golf Course.
The bridal bouquet was a composite bouquet of white callas lilies which surrounded a cluster of lily of the valley.

The decor at the church consisted of two altar arrangements, each with 7 stalks of lucky bamboo. Green hydrangea with black ribbon adorned the pews.

The reception had two different table centerpieces. One was of 7 stalks of bamboo with black river rocks.
The other option was a vase constructed of green kermits. Seven stems of stars of Bethlehem were clustered together.
