news from the studio!

I can hardly believe it is July 1st! The past two months have just flown by. We've worked with such awesome brides that have had great ideas - perhaps that is why our season is flying by!
Yesterday we were in Beaver Creek working on a pleasant wedding taking place at Beaver Creek Chophouse. Perhaps the bride and I had so much fun together once we realized we both attended University of California, Santa Barbara at the same. More than likely we had friends in common and classes together! It is a small world we live in.
Next weekend I fly to Palm Desert, CA to attend the AIFD symposium. I'm looking forward to this quick trip. I'm sure I'll be reinvigorated with fresh ideas in floral design. Plus, looking forward to seeing many of my flower friends.
Here's to the next four months of weddings!

The Broadmoor wedding

We worked on a wedding at The Broadmoor with Michelle Gillette of Dramatic Events. The colors were white, silver and navy blue. Here are some photos from this elegant event.

book in progress

I've been contemplating a book for sometime now. I've talked to a publisher and started playing around with ideas of what to feature in the book. I keep going back and forth on if I want to do a book of just wedding bouquets or if I'd like to do a book that is about all the floral design ideas for the entire wedding.
What would you like to see???

AIFD here I come!

Finally bought my plane ticket for So. California! I have to say, I'm not sure who's idea it is to plan a floral design conference in the California Desert. I wonder who'll wilt first - me or the flowers?!?!
Nonetheless, I can hardly wait to get to the conference - three days straight of presentations, demonstrations, showcases, competitions, and of course, parties. I always come back from conference feeling jazzed up and ready to tackle the remainder of wedding season.
For anyone interested in AIFD you can see more here:

the shop dogs

I must introduce my dogs (aka - the shop dogs) Many visitors to Bella Fiori have had the pleasure of meeting Matisse & Johann. They come to work almost everyday and luckily their friend, Charlie the lab, "works" next door at Lifestyles Catering.
Here are photos of my "kids". Johann is the Pekingese - he loves tropical flowers, especially ginger and orchids. Matisse is the cocker spaniel - she doesn't really like flowers. In fact, she's decapitated a few gerber daisy flowers....
